Indy Comic Book Week

Indy Comic Book Week is an idea I like quite a bit. There's no chance of having SWEETS ready in time to participate, but I'll be on the lookout for the books that are participating.

From the "About" section: "Indy Comic Book Week is not only an event but a call to action. Diamond Comic Distributors announced to comic shops that Diamond will not be shipping new comics for the last week of December. What some would call a disaster we are calling an opportunity. We are claiming December 30, 2009 to be "Indy Comic Book Week" and take New Comic Wednesday as our own. This is a perfect storm that opens up those new release shelves for the independent community to showcase our very best front and center in our local comic shop. We are here to give the comic book community something new, something they have never seen before. This is something we need to accomplish as a whole community from creators to retailers to readers. It is our time as a community to show that independent comics are as strong as anything else on those shelves."

Thanks for spreading the word, Kody! We really appreciate it. Keep checking back to the site as well, there's a lot of cool stuff on the way.

Total sidenote, you do some bitchin' comics, man. For real. I'm sad we won't be seeing anything from you for ICBW but I'll keep an eye out for SWEETS.

Thanks Jake! I really do dig the concept, just not enough time to have anything ready to ship that week. But I'll do my best to jump in next year if Marvel/DC skip that week again.

Totally dude, If they skip again we'll definitely try to keep this going.
